Neil's school author visits
Workshops, readings and interactive Q and A sessions that are inspirational, fun and informative. Neil's books are middle grade and YA. He does sessions based around these with years 4, 5, 6 in primary and 7, 8, 9 in secondary. But he has also written stories and TV shows for younger kids, so can work across all ages in a primary school. The testimonies speak for themselves: |
You could hear a pin drop as he captured the children's - and teacher's - imaginations
and mesmerised them with his words. They were rapt. He is a brilliant author and wonderful storyteller.
Neil has helped to inspire the children with their reading and writing and I would highly recommend a visit to your school. - Sarah Jones - Tower Hill Community School |
Give your children an author visit that will not only bring the experience of writing to life, but inspire them to write their own stories and give them the confidence to do so. |
Neil was so accommodating and happy to work with us. The children were completely absorbed by his fantastic storytelling and totally inspired by his life story. He read parts of his books to the children - they were so hooked they wouldn't let him leave. He had to keep reading more! Anyone who can keep Years 5 and 6's attention for over an hour is a winner in my book! Fantastic 'aftercare' too. He has bent over backwards so our children can get their signed books. Thank you so much, Neil!" - Debbie Johnson, Deputy Head, Pembury Primary School |
Neil also runs workshops with GCSE and A level students on writing fiction and screenwriting. For more information, or to book a visit click here or send an email to author@neilarksey.com. |
Neil provided us with a thoroughly entertaining and inspirational day. He immediately
engaged our mixed ability Year 7 with his enthusiastic and knowledgeable approach and
the students were completely immersed in the activities.
- Alison Pearce, The Sele School, Hertford Neil had such a wonderful rapport with our pupils of all ages and really catered his presentations to engage all pupils in KS1 and KS2. His humorous childhood stories left the pupils in stitches and his story telling made them eager to read more of his amazing work. - Miss Yasmen Sopta, Reading Resource Leader, Oaklands Primary The visit was great. The children loved it and the sessions were pitched perfectly for the different age groups. - Bryony Parrish, George Washington School The children were engaged, excited and eager to get writing! Neil was really funny and he kept the children captivated throughout the session, from reception right through to year 6. You created a real buzz in the classroom! Thank you! - Lou Boroughs, Maldon Primary Neil adapted and differentiated really well for the differing ages and was engaging to all. The children thoroughly enjoyed his visit and asked Neil lots of questions about his work. This motivated them in their own writing and has prompted some to begin their own novels! I would have no hesitation in recommending Neil to other schools. - Sarah Chappell, Hemmingborough School |
Neil was a real inspiration to both pupils and staff.
The children still refer to 'the day the author came'! - with great excitement.
They enjoyed being made part of a story when Neil named them and included them in
some fiction, both in class and in assembly. One of the older children came to me
afterwards and said, "You know, I think I am actually going to be an author now!"
The children were inspired by the high quality sessions that Neil delivered. Many children went home dreaming of writing their own stories. I would thoroughly recommend Neil to primary schools as his enthusiasm for writing is clear to see. - Daniel Leggatt, Stewart Fleming, Bromley Neil engages the children with his wonderful anecdotes and amazing storytelling. He is an inspirational author and connects with his audience in a down to earth, natural way. He inspired us and our children. This was the perfect way to share how important reading and writing is and we celebrate this every single day. Thank you Neil. - Sarah Jones - Tower Hill Community School Neil worked really well with all classes and was able to inspire a love of writing and kick start their imagination brilliantly. - Elaine Huntington, Honeybourne First School |
